During this semester, there is no doubt that I have learned many interesting and useful new things from this course. I will now discuss my participation in all the course outcomes one by one. First, the first learning outcome is about how to use differences with others to IMPROVE one’s essay. For this learning outcome, I learned how to correct mistakes and deficiencies in my own essays from the feedback and reflection given to me by others. Sometimes I can’t see any mistakes in my own work when I’m writing, so it’s extremely important to have other people’s opinions at this time. From another point of view, you can see things from another perspective. In this way, we can see mistakes that we have overlooked and ignored at the beginning. The next learning outcome is about how to be able to use different resources such as libraries, online databases and the Internet to find the information you need. Since this course required a lot of access to many sources, I learned how to properly cite credible and reliable sources. For example, if you go to the CCNY library, you can find the information you need by searching for the keywords you are looking for in the database. Also, this is about another learning outcome. Before this semester, all my articles were written in MLA format. However, this semester I learned a new form of citing, APA, and how to properly cite the original source in my articles. Then, the most important thing I learned was how to clarify my position through writing. Previously, I didn’t think it was important to state my position in writing. However, through this semester, I realized that it is very important to state your position in writing. Because, only when you clarify your position, your audience will have a very clear idea of the writer’s position when they read your essay. At the same time, clarifying your position can help you to express your opinion better. This is what I have learned in Writing for Social Science this semester. It was a very interesting class, not only with interesting topics but also with friendly teachers and classmates, who made me feel a lot of care and fun in this class and this semester. Thank you all for so much love!
